What a Weekend; a New Moon, the Chinese New Year, and Valentine’s Day, Oh My!
By Ellen Zucker | February 15, 2010
I feel like I’m just catching my breath.
What a busy, eventful weekend it’s been.
We experienced… a new moon in Aquarius, the Chinese New Year (did you know that the Chinese New year always coincides with the Aquarius new moon?) and, last but not least, Valentine’s Day.
The latter has no astrological significance, but the new moon is our monthly fresh start. This new moon is conjunct-next to Neptune, so it takes in Neptune’s ethereal energy. This is an excellent month to do inner work.
Neptune’s energy can make you feel day-dreamy and it can be difficult to focus, but that is nature’s way of prodding us to shut off the ‘left brain’ for awhile and let the imagination take over.
After all, it’s through the realm of the right brain–the imagination, intuition, poetry, art and music, where genius lies and where we find our spiritual connection.
But poll any path-breaking leader that before they made their breakthrough, they had a vision. And visioning is Neptune’s realm.
So this month, even before the Sun joins Jupiter and Venus in Pisces, give yourself some space to float in Neptune’s waters. Refresh yourself.
A little TLC for the soul will carry you a long way when the things get interesting this summer.

Hi Ellen,
So this is the time for a vision quest. I will do a little more introspection then. I used to think this was “hokey” but now I am ambivalent. There seems to be more to it and the way you write about it really makes me curious.

So does this mean if I feel like goofing off around the Valentine’s Day holiday, I should give in? I like that!

We all need a little time to goof off:) That’s how you recharge the imagination. Ultimately I think people are more productive when there’s a little down-time thrown in.

Hi Bruce. Thanks for keeping an open mind about this. It becomes very easy to label time spent daydreaming or chilling out as wasted time or being lazy. But I think the unconscious mind and the imagination do a lot of heavy lifting in helping us solve problems and integrating information and experience. Like all good things, balance is the key and, imo, we need both modes of thinking.

Hi Ellen. You are so correct. When else would we come up with ideas and solve problems if not when our mind is still and relaxed?

If we cannot have the time to recharge and regenerate we become stale. Thoughtful view Ellen.
